With the Dwarf Orinoco, you get all the same versatile qualities of the Orinoco Banana in a much smaller size (6-10 feet at maturity). Dwarf varieties are great for your landscaping and are also great candidates for container growing. Dwarf Orinocos are very hardy and produce fruit that won't split when it ripens. This variety is also known as donkey or burro banana for its thick-skinned fruit that doesn't curve much like typical bananas.
Use peat or potting soil and start in a 1-gallon pot (7-8 inches). When ready, move to a 5 or 7-gallon pot (12-14 inches) and then to a 15 or even 25-gallon container (18-24 inches).
