There are several types of cocoyam (the general name for the Xanthosoma species), but Black Malanga is the most popular. It's easy to see why with its attractive black-blue stems and intense ribbing on the underside of the leaves. Plus, the tubers are edible, the leaves make great cooked greens, and you can wrap your favorite foods in the leaves for steaming.
