Colocasia esculenta - Black Ruffles - Elephant Ear
The Black Ruffle elephant ear has all the great qualities of the well-known Black Magic Colocasia: striking dark purple leaves and deep plum stems. But the Black Ruffle has one bonus characteristic the Black Magic doesn't have: a ruffled texture that adds depth to your planter or garden. If your plant doesn't look just like the picture, give it a little time to grow up. Elephant ears' attributes become more defined as they mature.Mature height: 4-6 feet. Light: 65%-73% shade. Likes high light. 80% shade maximum. Soil: Boggy but well drained. Zones: 7b-10
