Liven up your culinary adventures with cardamom. When the Elettaria cardamomum is 2 to 3 years of age, it begins to flower from the base of the plant and will flower from spring through summer. Harvest cardamom from the dried fruit of the plant to give your cakes and curries a delightful flavor! Cardamom is used in many curry powders, confectioneries, liqueurs, chewing gums, sausages, and in many perfumes.
- Average mature height: 4-6 feet (can grow much taller in good growing conditions)
- Light: Full to part shade
- Soil: Prefers consistently moist rich soil.
- Zones: 10-11 (prefers ample heat and humidity)
