A tour around our nation's botanic garden

A tour around our nation's botanic garden
Located in Washington D.C., the United States Botanic Garden is a world of lush greenery and vibrant blooms. When my hubby found himself with a few extra hours during a work trip, he stopped in to see what interesting plants he could spot. Learn a little about the garden and take a look at what he found!

Why is the United States Botanic Garden important?

As a living museum and educational institution, the United States Botanic Garden plays a crucial role in promoting plant conservation, biodiversity, and environmental awareness. Through its collections, research programs, and public outreach initiatives, the garden serves as a valuable resource for scientists, students, and the general public.

What can you expect to see?

With over 10,000 living plant specimens, the United States Botanic Garden showcases a wide variety of plant species from across the country. From towering trees to delicate orchids, there is something breathtaking for everyone.

Two features not to be missed on a tour of the U.S. Botanic Garden: models of the Capitol and the Washington Monument amongst a backdrop of colorful elephant ears and other foliage.
Who can resist photographing a Nepenthes pitcher plant that looks this amazing?! Are you still waiting for yours to grow pitchers? Give it time and TLC and you will wonder where the time went as you watch yours grow up right under your green thumb.
Check out this cool Macodes petola (Jewel Orchid). What do you think--should Wellspring Gardens start carrying this variety?
We don't know what these varieties are exactly--just that they are stunning. If you know, please share in the comments.
The United States Botanic Garden represents the diversity of plant life of our nation through breathtaking displays. If you get a chance, go check it out.
