My plant is the result of the third attempt, but I was determined to have a Thai giant. The first try from wellspring didn't make it, but it wasn't their fault. It got stuck in shipping limbo in some warehouse for 2 weeks as hurricane helene hit my home while it was on it's way and by the time it arrived I wasn't able to save it. Last year I ordered 2 more just to be sure. Glad I did as one didn't make it. Luckily this one did. I wanted to be sure this one would make it, so I decided against planting it in the ground until it was larger. Kept it potted all year, let it ride through the winter in the greenhouse (where it wasn't particularly happy, I think due to being bound in a 3 gal pot) and finally put it in the ground in early April. Man, this thing couldn't be happier! It's been growing like crazy ever since. It immediately started dropping and growing a new, larger ear every few days reaching for the sky! It currently (mid-June) stands about 5.5ft tall with ears averaging 2.5ft wide by 3.5ft long. It has already sprouted 2 new plants from the ground and is currently growing 2 flowers, so maybe I'll even get some seeds! I live in Georgia, which means I have to cut and cover for the winter, so it'll unfortunately never be able to reach it's full glory. If it keeps anywhere near it's current growth, it should get close though! It's very hard to find real Thai giants. These are the real deal, just very small and tender so plan on nursing them along for a while. Bummed that 2 died, but the one that didn't made it worth it! It's just soooo happy and healthy. Couldn't be more pleased!

These plants ended up arriving much nicer than expected when I pressed the order button. This is the first time I've purchased seedlings online and I'll definitely be back for more starting in the near future. Any acquaintances that are looking for elephant ears on Facebook and I'm always tagging Wellspring Gardens. This came with a single leaf. It's now pushing out it's 4tth 17 days after receiving it. Phenomenal transaction and repeat customer incoming.
