Though not as well-known as its cousin the purple mangosteen, the African Imbe is a hardy and drought-tolerant species, making it a great choice for warm-climate gardens or as a striking container plant.

Each Wednesday we drop a new, rarer plant that we've grown out larger than our typical starter plant size. This week, we have a limited supply of African Imbe Mangosteen - Garcinia livingstonei
It's a small, tropical fruit tree native to southern Africa, prized for its bright orange fruits and ornamental beauty. It typically grows 10–15 feet tall and features glossy, evergreen leaves and small, fragrant flowers. The fruit, about the size of a golf ball, has a thin, leathery skin and soft, tangy-sweet pulp that's edible and often enjoyed fresh.
