Butterwort - Pinguicula primuliflora
The Butterwort, or Pinguicula primuliflora, may have an undesirable common name, but when you see its abundance of purple flowers, you'll know Shakespeare knew what he was talking about when he said, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Insects beware! The Butterwort's sticky leaves trap those nagging pests.
Light: Full to slightly filtered sun.
Soil: Prefers high humidity and requires moist, acidic soil with very little fertilizer. Place a tray of water underneath to keep it wet constantly. Does very well in Canadian peat.
