Sugar Belle is so resistant to citrus greening that it quickly became a commercial cultivar. In addition to its disease-resistance, it's also a very vigorous and productive producer. A Mandarin orange hybrid (LB8-9), Sugar Belle, can survive down to 18 degrees Fahrenheit, so you can rest easy during mild Florida freezes. Sugar Belle oranges are segmented like traditional mandarins, but they have a richer and more complex sweet-tart flavor than others. It's pretty much the perfect orange, a very select variety that has the potential to wipe away all the orange grove woes.
