Each Wednesday we drop a new, rarer plant that we've grown out larger than our typical starter plant size. This week, we have a limited supply of Sugar Apple 'Sweetsop' Tree - Annona squamosa (1-gallon pot)

The Sugar Apple tree (Annona squamosa), also known as sweetsop, is a small, tropical deciduous tree prized for its unique, lumpy green fruit filled with creamy, sweet pulp. Native to the Americas but now widely grown throughout the tropics and subtropics, this tree typically reaches 10 to 20 feet in height, making it an excellent choice for home gardens and small orchards. These Sugar Apples are seed-grown.

In addition to its delicious fruit, the Sugar Apple tree is relatively easy to care for in warm climates. It thrives in well-drained soil and full sun, and is known for its drought tolerance once established. The tree blooms in early spring with narrow, greenish-yellow flowers that are pollinated by beetles or hand-pollinated in cultivation to ensure fruit set.

How tall are baby plants?

We aim to ship your plants when they’re 3-8” tall, though we often ship them taller than that.

What determines whether I get a 3-, 6-, or even 18-inch-tall plant?

The exact size of the plant we send you is variable on the time of year and how long we've been growing it out.
