Each Wednesday we drop a new, rarer plant that we've grown out larger than our typical starter plant size. This week, we have 12 Supreme-sized (3/4 Gallon Pot) Peanut Butter Trees.
While peanuts grow underground and require roasting and blending to make peanut butter, nature's ready-made peanut butter grows on a tree—the Peanut Butter Fruit Tree. The beautiful yellow flower clusters of this perennial evergreen turn into fruit that ripens as it turns orange to light red. The 1-inch fruit is dense and juicy with a touch of sweetness just like the classic spread we all love. You can eat Peanut Butter Fruit straight off the tree or make it into sauces, preserves, and desserts. This Central and South American native, also known as Monk's Plum and Silver Peanut Butter Tree, has become quite popular in Australia and the U.S. Peanut Butter Trees thrive in full sun and warm, humid climates. If planting in an area that gets below 28 degrees Fahrenheit, you'll want to protect this tropical tree from freezing.
• Average mature height: 20-25 feet (6-10 feet if pruned)
• Light Requirements: Full sun
• Soil Requirements: Well-drained. Do not let dry out between waterings.
• USDA Hardiness Zone: 10

Your plants are packed with the utmost care, but shipping can be stressful on the little guys.
That's why you have 30 days from the arrival date to experiment with them. If they don't bounce back, you're eligible for a refund.
Wellspring Gardens is the starter plant, AKA “baby plant” shop. We just get you started, so you get all the credit for raising your plants under your green thumb.
We aim to ship your plants when they’re 3-8” tall, though we often ship them taller than that.
The exact size of the plant we send you is variable on the time of year and how long we've been growing it out.
