Swarms of butterflies and bees introduced us to this bush. We had to get a closer look to see what the hubbub was all about. That’s when we officially met the butterfly bush with its cone-shaped, deep purple flower spikes shouting out a warm welcome to pollinators. Now available as a premium 3/4-QT size, the Black Knight butterfly bush can be a welcome mat for your butterfly garden, too. Hummingbirds also love Buddleia (Buddleja) davidii. Numerous colors are available these days, but blues and purples are the original natives. Black Knight boasts dark purple blooms.
