This just in: a 2022 elephant ear hybrid which will bedazzle your garden with its striking, multicolored veins. The Waikiki is a fun variety to watch grow because it's constantly changing: The leaves start out plain old green but then develop their white veins and a purple dot. Then, the purple dot gradually expands into the white veins. Finally, the veining turns primarily purple. Please note that elephant ears' attributes become more defined when they mature.

• Height when mature: 3 to 4 feet
• Light: Full to part sun
• Soil: Rich well drained, keep moist, do not let dry out between waterings.
• Zones: 7b-10b

Plant Size
A baby plant, that is 3-8 inches tall, will arrive at your home in a 3-inch-deep pot. Then, raise your new baby to maturity under your caring, green thumb.

Questions or Problems?
We have shipped thousands of plants safely to their destinations; however, please send us a picture of your plant(s) within 48 hours of arrival if you have any questions or problems. We can then assess for our Live Delivery Guarantee.

Dead Leaves?
Many sellers ship elephant ear rhizomes without leaves, but we have found a way to successfully ship with leaves. However, on occasion a leaf is damaged during shipping or some leaves die. No fear! The rhizome is still alive and healthy and will grow new leaves relatively quickly. Just repot and trim off any damaged or dead leaves.

Dormancy
In the winter, this plant generally loses its leaves and may arrive bare to you. This is totally normal and actually very healthy. Like hibernation, dormancy is an important part of the growing cycle when plants are strengthening their root systems instead of focusing on creating new growth. They are still healthy, viable plants that will begin growing new leaves in spring with more light and warmer temperatures during the day and night.

Arrived deceased

I don’t know if it was the packaging or wet, but when it arrived, it was completely dead

Hey Camber, sorry your plant died in transit. That happens (rarely) but shipping can be stressful on living organisms. If it arrived within the past 30 days, you can easily request a refund here: returns.wsprg.com

As described. Packaged with care. Definitely a starter size, but that's how we start our collections most often, is it not? If you want stuff not in local nurseries or big box stores, we find fellow enthusiasts willing to share their treasures:) Healthy plant, and I can't wait to watch her grow! Thanks!

Troubleshooting

Oh, no! My Elephant Ear Lost a Leaf!

Damaged leaves? 🍂 Don’t fret. It's really common for elephant ears to shed leaves, especially after being in a dark box. That's why many online sellers send them as corms (plant language for a bulb-like root) with no leaves. Because we know it's more satisfying to receive an actual plant, we aim to send ours with leaves. However, on occasion a leaf is damaged during shipping or some leaves die, but the underground rhizome is still alive and healthy and will grow new leaves relatively quickly. If you haven't already, repot and trim off any damaged or dead leaves a few inches from the base. You can even fertilize it. The leaves will quickly re-grow from the tubers. And you won’t even have to wait for the plant to mature. Even starter-size plants will produce new leaves. Check out our time-lapse to see just how quickly Elephant Ears can grow a new leaf; although timing can vary depending on the individual plant and the season, it will give you an idea of how these amazing plants grow.

My Elephant Ear is dead!

Your Elephant Ear may be dead, but then again, it might not be. Watch our time-lapse of a customer return. After just a few short days, the plant that sat in a box for 3 weeks and looked as "dead as a doornail," 😵 looked as good as new.
