Superbum is a truly superb variety of Staghorn Fern. The basal fronds grow upright forming a sort of nest while the foliar fronds droop down. The "nest" collects nutrients for the plant.
If you're trying to choose which type of Staghorn to add to your collection, check out the other varieties in our carefully-curated collection, because, while all Staghorns are whimsical and collectible, we think Platycerium veitchii, bifurcatum Netherlands, elephantotis, and the Australian native superbum are the most unusual and rewarding. Staghorn ferns can be grown in many ways: in a pot or mounted on a slab of wood, tree fern fiber, or a wire basket. They do well indoors and outdoors in areas where freezes rarely occur.
