Welcome to Wellspring Gardens: Take a tour of our family-run nursery!

Wellspring Gardens is a family-run online nursery with over 20 years of experience growing and shipping tropical plants to plant lovers across the country. From humble beginnings to fulfilling our 500,000th order, we’re excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at how we operate and what makes us unique.

Our Fulfillment Center: From Horse Barn to Plant Hub

Our fulfillment center may still look like a horse barn—and for good reason! This property was previously a boarding facility for horses and RVs. Since we acquired it in 2019, it has become the heart of our operations, where plant orders are carefully packed and prepared for shipment.

Production: The Start of Every Plant's Journey

In our production area, all propagation and potting take place. This is where new plants begin their journey, nurtured with care to ensure they’re healthy and thriving when they reach your home.

The Greenhouse: A Seasonal Necessity

While Florida’s climate doesn’t always require a greenhouse, it’s essential during the cooler weeks of winter. Our greenhouse is where we manage and protect our plants when the weather turns chilly. Production is led by Kirsten, who oversees growing practices, sourcing, and quality control to ensure every plant meets our standards.

Browse Our Ever-Growing Plant Catalog

Our catalog of tropical plants is constantly expanding. At WellspringGardens.com, you can explore nearly 500 species—and counting!

The Shadehouse: Home to Unique Plants

Our shadehouse is where we keep carnivorous plants like Venus flytraps and pitcher plants. It’s also home to cold-hardy varieties like pomegranates, which thrive under the natural Florida rain.

The Orchard: Where Plants Reach Full Potential

In our orchard, we grow some plants to full maturity to show what they’ll look like in your garden. It’s also home to our "misfit" plants—customer returns that we’ve nurtured back to health.

Why We Ship Small, Baby Plants

Most of our plants are 3–8 inches tall—think of them as baby plants! This smaller size makes them easier to ship, ensuring faster delivery while minimizing stress on the plants. We ship free, and most orders fit conveniently in your mailbox.

To help your plants thrive, we recommend opening your package as soon as it arrives, unwrapping the plants, and giving them water. While they may look a little stressed from their journey, most plants bounce back within a few weeks. If they don’t, our 30-day "arrive alive" guarantee has you covered!

A Registered, USDA-Inspected Nursery

Wellspring Gardens is a registered nursery that complies with USDA requirements. Our processes ensure you receive healthy, accurately labeled plants. While our order defect rate is only 0.22%, we’re constantly striving for perfection.

Educational Content and Experiments

When we’re not growing, selling, or shipping plants, we’re creating educational videos about our favorites. From experiments like comparing pitcher plants to Venus flytraps to testing our proprietary Fig Fuel fertilizer, we love sharing insights about plant care and growth.

Celebrating Milestones and Looking Ahead

This year, we fulfilled our 500,000th order—a milestone we’re incredibly proud of. Looking ahead, we aim to double this achievement within the next five years.

Final Thoughts

At Wellspring Gardens, we’re more than just a nursery—we’re a community of plant enthusiasts who love what we do. Every plant we ship is a piece of our passion, sent with care to help you build your own green oasis. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, we’re here to support you every step of the way. Thank you for being part of our journey. We can’t wait to see what you grow!
